Future Balancing
Enable the Future Balancing feature
Future Balancing is a feature that improves inventory planning in cases where procurement or repair orders that are placed at one location are initially sent to a repackaging or shipping location and then balanced to the ordering location upon arrival. It considers balance orders within the Supply Chain Lead Time, which defines how far into the future orders are treated as in‑transit supply.
Without the Future Balancing feature, the original ordering location does not have visibility to in-transit orders, often resulting in the generation of duplicate orders and potential excess inventory. With Future Balancing enabled, future incoming excess inventory is proactively considered during planning, which helps to prevent unnecessary procurement or repair orders.
The benefits of using the Future Balancing feature are:
• Enhanced planning accuracy by incorporating future incoming stock
• Reduced operational costs by avoiding unnecessary procurement and repairs

Enable the Future Balancing Feature
The Future Balancing feature is enabled by setting the following:
• Set the OP_TIME_PHASED_ROP_ENABLED global setting to true.
• On the Ordering Parameter, set the Enable Receiving Balancing setting to Future Balance also for downstream need.
*
The following Review Reasons notify you when Future Balancing has been disabled due to an opposing planning goal, such as Enable Safety Stock SCS (Inside Lead Time Only) and Replenishment Before Balancing.
