Part Kit
A Part Kit is any part that has the Is Part Kit field set to Yes, which identifies that the part is a group of component parts and quantities. For example, a Part Kit for a computer may consist of many pieces, such as a mouse, external hard drive, Intel chip, and power cord. Depending on the location, the computer Part Kit could have one or more kittings. Locations need to have the parts on hand to assemble kits as required, so demand for part kits is extended to their component parts at specified locations. Servigistics propagates demand from kitting parts (procurement order) to component parts (dependent demand) by creating dummy internal sales order records for each component part in the Kit BOM. Independent demand (sales orders for parts that also happen to be components of a kit) is still created in the normal fashion. Existing part kits can be managed, and new part kits can be added by using the Part Kits page.
Part Kits cannot be on the ASL.
The demand for the part kit is applied to the component parts.
