Enable History Based Simulators
Validate that the following History Based Simulator requirements are set in your configuration:
The ENABLE_HISTORICAL_SIMULATION global setting is set to true, which enables the History Based Simulator feature
The SIM_CLEANUP_USING_SEGMENT global setting is set to one of the following values:
true, which cleans up the segment level data
false, which cleans up all data
The SIM_MAX_SEGMENT_SIZE global setting is set to a value that is acceptable for your instance, which limits the number of SKUs in a segment for a simulation run
When set to -1, there is no limit applied
When set to a number 0 or greater, the number of SKUs in a segment is limited to that value and a warning message is presented to the user
The SIM_UPDATE_ORDER_PLAN_HIST global setting is set to one of the following values:
When set to true, the order plan history data is populated with the output from the simulator
When set to false, the order plan history data is not populated with the output from the simulator
The History Based Simulator access rights are set for each user on the Base Setup Rights tab of the User Rights Setup page, which enables the History Based Simulator menu item under the Modeling heading
Key Points to Remember
Keep these key points in mind when you are using the History Based Simulator page.
A simulator cannot be run on a production instance. It can only be run on test data, or a copy of production data.
A simulator can only be run once. If you want to run another simulation with the same parameters, or modify the parameters slightly and run the simulator again, click to create a copy and make changes to the copied version of the simulator.
Changes cannot be made to a simulation after it is run.
Reports are available for a simulation after it is run.
The simulation Start Date and End Dates should be on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday) so that the weekly, or monthly processes run on the weekend.
The recommended method of running the simulator is to Run the simulator on a set of pairs to inspect rather running the simulator on a whole system.
