Calculating Initial Demand Forecast
Follow these steps to calculate initial demand forecast for the product lifecycle you want to optimize.
1. From the Analysis menu, select Lifecycle and click Forecast. The Lifecycle Forecast page appears.
2. Select the Seed Stock tab. This tab displays the levels of stock needed to seed the forward locations.
|
|
Only parts that have Unique and Forward Stock selected in the service BOM will appear on this tab.
|
3. Enter the number of strategic locations in the Strategic Locations box and enter the number of time slices in the deployment cycle in the Deployment Cycle box.
Select the parts you want to change and click the
Process Changes button

. The
Strategic Locations value is divided by the
Deployment Cycle value and the result is assigned to each slice.
For example, if Strategic Locations is 101 and Deployment Cycle is 4, then the resulting values would be:
Slice 1 = 25
Slice 2 = 25
Slice 3 = 25
Slice 4 = 26
Slice 5-12 = 0
4. You can edit the results as you like.
5. Select the
Normal tab. This tab displays the calculated demand at the central location for each service BOM part. The demand forecast includes the seed stock that will be required based on the
service ship plan. Edit these values as necessary. Then, click the
Process Changes button

to see how your change will affect the entire forecast.
6. Select one of the
Adjustment tabs. These tabs allow you to fill other forecasting needs, such as installation, preventive maintenance or other needs. If you want to edit a few values, you can edit the boxes for the parts directly. If you want to apply the same change to several parts, make your changes in the boxes in the
Adjustment Amount row,
select the parts you want to change and click the
Process Changes button

.
7. Select the
Total tab. This tab displays the total demand forecast by slice for the parts in the product. To see how the forecast is broken down, position your cursor over a slice value for a couple of seconds and a pop-up window appears displaying the breakout numbers. To make any final adjustments, click a slice value. The Total Product Forecast Details page appears allowing you to make changes to the forecast values. After you make changes, click the
Save button

.
8. When you are finished, click the
Save button

.
9. Click the
Upload button

to upload the changes to the host system.
