Pricing
Pricing service parts is very different than pricing other items, such as consumer goods, airline seats, or even non-retail finished goods. Many unique attributes, constraints, and objectives must be considered. For example, if the part is critical to product uptime and the product itself is critical, there is going to be more urgency and less opportunity to price shop. The age and stage in the part's lifecycle, the ability to generate other part sales or labor revenue, the location or market, and competitive part substitutes are other factors that can be considered. Pricing of service parts can include frequent price updates, as well as periodic pricing decisions based on evaluation of total service part revenues and profits.
