Creating Part Substitutes
1. Enter
Part Substitution in the
Go to box to search for the page. Select the page from the resulting list of matches.
2. Click the
New icon

. The New Part Substitution page appears.
4. Click the
Save icon

. If you set
Global to Yes, the Part Substitution page reappears and you are finished with the procedure. If you set
Global to No, the Part Substitution by Location page appears.
5. On the Part Substitution by Location page, you can create a list of locations for the selected part substitute. To add locations, click the
Search for Item icon

. The Find Location page appears. Enter the criteria for the locations you want to include the part substitution. To see all locations, do not enter any criteria. Click the
Find icon

.
6. A list of locations matching your criteria appears at the bottom of the Find Location page. Select the locations to which the part substitution will apply and click the
Save icon

.
7. Click the
Return to Previous Screen icon

. The Part Substitution by Location page reappears listing the locations you selected.
8. For each location listed, you can enter a priority number in the Priority boxes. If a part has more than one part substitute and Global is set to No, the part substitute location priority number determines the order in which part substitutes are used to meet the need for the original part. The lower the location priority number, the higher the substitution priority. For example, if a part has part substitutes at two locations, one location with a priority of 1 and one with a priority of 5, the part substitute location with the priority of 1 will be used first. These location priority values override the part substitute priority values.
| The location priority number can be a negative value. Null values are assigned lowest priority. |
9. Click the
Save icon

to save your changes.
10. Click the
Return to Previous Screen icon

again to return to the Part Substitution page.
