Order Sizing
A way to adjust order quantities based on sizing requirement set at several levels of a Part or SKU. These are the parameters used by Order Sizing:
Fixed Order Quantity
Minimum Order Quantity
Pallet Size
Packaging Size
Sales Size
Lot Size
Order Sizing Rules
When using Order Sizing for a Part or a SKU, Servigistics determines the appropriate order quantity to be ordered using the following rule set:
1. If Fixed Order Quantity Override exists, then use this quantity for all orders. Do not consider any other order sizing parameters.
2. Establish the Order Quantity Needed.
This is either the need that was calculated by the Order Plan process or the Minimum Order Quantity, which ever is greater.
3. If the Order Quantity Needed > (Pallet Size Round * Pallet Size), for example (66% * 144 = 96) then:
a. Order Pallet Size
b. Set Order Quantity Needed = (Order Quantity Needed - Pallet Size)
c. Continue with the remainder when Order Quantity Needed > 0
4. If the Order Quantity Needed > (Packaging Size Round * Package Size) then:
a. Order Package Size
b. Set Order Quantity Needed = (Order Quantity Needed - Package Size)
c. Continue with the remainder when Order Quantity Needed > 0
5. If the Sales Size > 1:
a. Order Sales Size, always ordering at least the amount needed. For Sales Size, there is no rounding rule, so if at least one part is needed, the Order Plan process will order the Sales Size.
6. If the Sales Size does not apply and is not a repair order then, apply Lot Size if it exists. When Order Quantity Need > Lot Size Round (not a percentage) then apply the Lot Size to any remaining Order Quantity Needed.
