The import process is a method of adding or modifying data in Servigistics via a file that is fed into the system. For example, new parts that are not already loaded in the host system could be imported via a file so that initial forecasts could be generated.
Data can be imported via a file by using one of these methods.
• Through any page that displays the Import button ( or )
• Using the Data Manager page, which interfaces with the Import page
Other ways data can be added or changed
These are the other ways that data can be added or changed in Servigistics:
• Data is generally obtained from client host systems. The data is brought into the Data Download tables (which are the tables with names starting with IPCSDD_) through the use of ETL software and is loaded into the Core tables (which are the tables with names starting with IPCS_) by the AutoPilot process.
• Data can be loaded from any text-based format into the Data Download tables and an AutoPilot process can be run to load the data directly into the tables.
• Many pages allow records to be added or updated manually. This can be time-consuming and inefficient, especially if the data is already in a format that can be readily used or can be put into that format.
