Business Unit
A distinct segment of a company that operates semi-independently and is typically responsible for its own products, services, customers, and financial performance. In the
SIOP module, a Business Unit usually:
• Maintains its own sales forecasts, inventory targets, and operations plans
• Participates in the SIOP plan to align plans with corporate strategy and cross‑functional goals
• Is organized by product line, geography, customer segment, or function, such as aftermarket or OEM
Each Business Unit is configured on the
SIOP Business Units page by defining the Departments that will participate in the SIOP process.
